Elim Garak
From Star Trek Online Wiki
Elim Garak is a Cardassian politician and member of the Detapa Council.
History
- A former member of the Obsidian Order, Garak was exiled from the Cardassian Union, and worked as a tailor on Deep Space 9 when it was under the control of the Bajorans, under Federation administration.
- During the Dominion War, Garak provided assistance to the Federation, eventually playing a key role in the Cardassian revolt against the Dominion, and the liberation of his people.
- By 2380, Garak was an advisor to the Cardassian government, supporting the fledgling democracy movement. It was his influence that allowed a Federation-sponsored agricultural project to proceed on Cardassia Prime.
- Later, Garak was a prominent member of a coalition which was democratically elected to rule the Cardassian people. He was involved in a controversial decision to contribute ships to the Federation's recovery efforts in Romulan space.
- On an unknown date, Franklin Drake, posing as a Federation Council liaison, escorted Jake Sisko to meet with Garak to discuss the Undine infiltration of the Alpha and Beta Quadrants.
Missions given

- “Doomed to Repeat”: Garak's investigation on Karemma leads to an Ancient Dominion Station in the Masan System.
- “Tenebris Torquent”: Garak leads the investigation of the presumed Hur'q homeworld, Havas-Kul.
Missions involved
- “Temporal Ambassador”: In an alternate timeline, Elim Garak is a laborer working for the Tholian Assembly at a base in the Azure Nebula. He declines the player's request to create a diversion for him, stating that he is not willing to risk his life.
- “Second Wave” ( “Home Away From Homesick”): Quark at Quark's Bar, claims that Garak was the last regular customer he had with an interest in Cardassian Kanar. Quark also muses about expanding his establishment into the area of the promenade formerly occupied by Garak's tailor shop.
- “Surface Tension”: Garak is present at the Dyson Sphere summit. The player has to defuse an argument between him and Mira Kren.
- “The Temporal Front”: Garak is present at the Alliance Summit on New Romulus.
- “Message From Another Time I”: The first in a series of time-delayed logs, left by Garak approximately 30 years earlier, is discovered in the computers on Deep Space 9.
- “Message From Another Time II”: Another of Garak's time-delayed logs is discovered in the Deep Space 9 computer system.
- “Message From Another Time III”: Another of Garak's time-delayed logs is discovered in the Deep Space 9 computer system.
- “Message From Another Time IV”: Another of Garak's time-delayed logs is discovered in the Deep Space 9 computer system. In it, Commander Nereda records a report after foiling an attempt by the Na'kuhl to assassinate Jake Sisko by reprogamming a holosuite on Deep Space 9. She tracked the Na'kuhl agent to a storage area, passing Garak on her way. When she arrived at the storage area, she found the corpse of the Na'kuhl agent.
- “Storm Clouds Gather”: Garak is one of the Alpha Quadrant leaders consulted by the player at the Alliance summit on Deep Space 9.
- “Home”: Garak, aboard the C.U.V. Tain, joins in the defense of Empersa against the massed forces of the Hur'q summoned by the lure he had placed there. He then reveals that he had deactivated the lure, but the Hur'q keep coming. Garak speculates that the Hur'q are now attacking of their own volition because of what the Founders did to them.
Other involvement
- "Repeat Performance": Nereda and Drij visit Deep Space Nine in the 24th Century. They confront a Human named Borucki under the auspices of a Cardassian Legate and Orion civilian, respectively. With the assistance of Garak, Drij is able to pick Borucki's pocket during a staged interrogation, retrieving a bomb Borucki was unwittingly carrying for Arne Darvin, which would have destroyed all of the Bajoran Orbs, with the exception of the Orb of Time, which was in Darvin's possession. After the pair return to New Khitomer, Garak, who recognized Nereda from a years-earlier encounter, takes the opportunity afforded by the encounter to steal Nereda's mission recorder, and begins to download its contents.
